On Thursday I got diagnosed with blood clots in my legs.
On Monday I got diagnosed with blood clots in my lungs.
It's made me start to think about things.
The first thing is that I don't need a blood clot to remind me about the important things in life. I'm already quite good at that and have made appropriate life decisions to enable me to die well. So I think that is just really unnecessary and unfair. Plus it has complicated my life in that I can't take hormonal birth controls or my prescription acne medicine anymore.
The second thing is: as much as this whole business affects me, I think it affects the people around me greatly, perhaps more. When I first found out, I thought, "It would suck if I died," then "Scott would be really sad," and "my parents would be devastated." Because I know from traveling, it always hurts more to be the one left behind than the one leaving.
